-Defense for Misa Amane (Death Note)-

-Annoying-

Hating on her character for this simple reason is fairly common, but have you ever stopped to think about why Misa is ‘annoying’? I’m not sure that any of you have ever suffered from depression, but let me just say from a personal experience that acting bubbly,loud, & obnoxiously happy is usually a method of coping or hiding the fact that you are depressed. At certain points in the manga (and even the anime) it’s made fairly obvious that Misa is depressed & I still cannot understand how anyone could over look this. Her life is terrible, and it by no means gets better.

-In Love with Light-

Misa’s parents were killed right in front of her, she had to go on trial at a young age only to be accused of being a liar & see the man whom she clearly knew was guilty get let off the hook. She was alone in this, and I’m sure she felt very helpless. Kira killed the man who killed her parents, this made her feel much less alone. Misa was more then likely traumatized by the events of her parent’s murder, meaning she’s less likely to be emotionally stable, & to make it worse she’s young. She clings to Light/Kira because Light/Kira is ALL she has. She views him as her savior, her guardian, her hero, & becomes obsessive because he punished a criminal that more then likely no one else saw as guilty. When you look at it from another angle, she transferred her love for her parents over to Light- this could in turn be another coping method as well. And if you haven’t noticed Light treats her very badly, their ‘relationship’ (If it can even be called that) is really very abusive, especially from a spectator’s point of view.

-Useless-

Excuse me, did you & I read the same manga? Misa from early on she was useful. If not only for her Shinigami eyes, it was her absolute dedication as well. Her media status made things easier on the task force as she let Matsuda(And later Mogi) pretend to be her manager so they could investigate. Later on she disobeys orders & goes on a date with the guy from the Yotsuba group just to get him to admit he’s Kira. And of course she keeps killing criminals while Light is working with the task force.The lengths she goes to for Light when it’s obvious he’s only using her, it’s so beautiful yet tragic. She’s very useful & granted she’d been there when Light was found out to be Kira in that warehouse(end of the manga/anime right before his death) I know for a fact she would have done everything in her power to try & keep him alive. 

-Gets in the way of LightxL- 

I’m sorry, but that is not canon. Stop blaming Misa… And even if it was canon, it’s been established that Light does not care for Misa in the slightest. (He only kept her alive because of Rem & after Rem was dead he kept her around because she was useful) I don’t see how exactly she’s in/she’d be in the way.
